A few weeks ago I tried out a heart monitor. I used it for all of
15min, maybe. It was fun. So much fun that I decided to order myself
one as soon as I got back home. Like I said, that was a few weeks back but no I didn't come home and order one.
Daughter L was here last Friday, it was hers
that I had tried. She got online as soon as she heard that I hadn't done
it yet and ordered me one. Said it should be here Wed or Thursday.
It is Friday and it is here. Pretty quick delivery, I think. I picked it up this morning before lunch but haven't had a proper look at it yet. I need to work out how to use it and then in the morning I will put it on and ride around the block. Daughter might be here later and if so then I will get her to do it for me. At least that way it will get done and there can be no excuses.
I will let you know how I go.

Bike *Computer*
I spent a couple of hours wandering around the shops on Tuesday and ended up buying myself a *toy*
Hubby put it on my bike for me this afternoon and I can now see how fast I go, how far I go, how long it takes me to go that far that fast...I think every bike should have one of these things. Lotsa fun.
Mine is just a cheapy one with 9 functions and cost just under $20.
While he was at it he gave the bike a spray, wiped off some cobwebs, fiddled with some bits, done some other stuff, sprayed something else...
I now have brakes, gears that work better, no spiders, pumped up tyres...
He explained (again) how the gears work and when and why to change them and I think this time I must have listened because this evenings ride was a lot easier than the10km I rode last week.

I Bought Shoes.
It's the 3rd now and I haven't started yet. Reason? I cannot walk without decent shoes and cannot ride with achy arms.
I have the shoes now though, I bought 2 pair on Thursday so hopefully one of them will be good enough for me to do a decent walk in.
One pair are those funny looking rock and roll shoes that a lot of people are raving about. Mine are *ToneWalker* It says they tone your glutes, thighs, calves. That will be a bonus if they work and at under $50 I thought they were worth a try. These feel funny when I am just standing, it's hard to keep my balance but that could help with muscle strengthening too I suppose.
The other pair were around the same price and the label says they have arch support, heal support, they seem comfortable and will be my everyday shoe.
Looking at the labels it seems that they are both a Mitre brand. I've not heard of them before but both pairs feel alright on my feet and are not too expensive to replace every 6 months if needed. But hopefully I get a year out of them both. So now I have no excuse to not walk and will try and do that most mornings. I will ride when I can, every day would be good but I will see how I go.
I have the bad habit of being all gung-ho then overdoing things and then ending up in bed for days. I need to take things easy while still doing enough to be fitter by Friday.
